I’m am a huge fan of the Mother Bruce books by Ryan T. Higgins! While I was digging around trying to find out more about his process with concept art I stumbled upon this animated cartoon of the first Mother Bruce book! I absolutely love the trailer but before you get too excited the dvd is very pricey and more than likely is meant for schools to purchase so the dvd can be used among different classes.

Check out the trailer anyway, it’s definitely a great piece!

Mother Bruce is based on the book by Ryan T. Higgins. The film was adapted, directed, and animated by Galen Fott. The musical score was composed and performed by Ernest Troost. The film is produced by Linda Lee, Paul R. Gagne, and Melissa R. Ellard at Weston Woods Studios. Running time is 9:23.    |    You can buy the dvd here.

Description:

Bruce the bear likes to keep to himself. That, and eat eggs. But when his hard-boiled goose eggs turn out to be real, live goslings, he starts to lose his appetite. And even worse, the goslings are convinced he’s their mother. Bruce tries to get the geese to go south, but he can’t seem to rid himself of his new companions. What’s a bear to do?

My Thoughts

The dvd seems very expensive at $59.95. I can’t find a more affordable option anywhere. I’m assuming the high price is meant to cover licenses for multiple viewings like in schools or libraries. Too bad it wasn’t more affordable for parents like me, but I am very excited about the idea of animating amazing stories like this!
